Food Blogs - A Hybrid Genre

In my term paper I explored whether food blogs are indeed a mixture of two different text types, namely narrative (blogs) and instructional (recipes) texts. In order to find out, I applied Schubert's model of text types (Texttypen) to food blogs. Still, I also went beyond the textual level and took a look at the paratextual elements (elements that surround the text) of food blogs, such as layout, colour, target audience and the authors. Finally, I analyzed how other media, in particular videos and photos are used in food blogs. My initial idea to present my findings in a creative way, is to set up a blog myself, in which I document the progress of my paper and throw in a recipe or two as well.
